Is it too early to be nostalgic about your baby when she’s only six months old?
I’m in the process of setting up her 6-month-old photo shoot and took a look back at her very first photo shoots – at just under two weeks old. I can’t believe how much Elizabeth has changed and grown in such a short amount of time (I know I keep saying this, but it’s true!) It is the most amazing thing to watch her personality develop, along with all the physical milestones like sitting up, rolling over, babbling. I guess I just never realized how in awe I would be of this little person. I have to say, even in her fussy moments, she’s a pretty cool gal!
So, our newborn photo session was quite the experience. First of all, it was our first time out of the house with her. Thank goodness the studio was only a 5-minute drive from our house. And, surprisingly, we were on time. Not too bad for first time parents!
The photographer explained that they keep the studio warm for the newborns so they will stay sleepy and comfortable. This was great for El, but JR and I were feeling the heat! I still had pregnancy hormones running through my system, and JR, well, he’s a bit hot-natured. Yes, there were multiple water breaks between all the family photos.
Also, El was sans diaper – as is apparently required for newborn photos. It didn’t take long for her to pee on JR – right in his hands (she knew better than to pee on momma – ha!)
And of course, we had Baxter along for photos with his sis. Our photographer specializes in pet photography so she had all the tricks in the book to get Bax to pose just right with El (including yelling “Look at the squirrel Baxter!” – works every time). His expressions in some of the photos were hilarious – he is such an animated pup.
So, despite all the chaos behind-the-scenes, the photos turned out beautiful and really capture our baby girl’s sweetness and beauty. Many of you have seen them already, but I’m sure you can indulge me one more time. Here they are – enjoy!
