We continued our adventure in Portland with a visit to the local children’s museum. It was a really cool place with lots of interactive areas for Lizzie and Char. Lizzie really enjoyed the tide pool touch tank where she got up close and personal with creatures that live in the tide pools of Maine.

That evening we tried the Portland Lobster Company for dinner. I tried my second lobster roll of the trip and while the first place wins for location, the Portland Lobster Company makes a far better roll all around. We finished the night with ice cream at Beal’s.
Friday was our last full day in Portland. We took it slow that morning with breakfast in the apartment, then Lizzie, my mom and I walked down the street to check out a local bakery, Katie Made Bakery, for an afternoon snack.
And how can you visit Maine without a boat ride? We enjoyed a late-afternoon Lighthouse Lovers cruise, taking in several lighthouses, great harbor views, and learning all about the nearby islands.

The next day the rest of our crew arrived and we headed up to our second destination…Belfast!
