Lizzie’s magical 5th birthday

My big girl is 5!  For this year’s bday, we decided to take Lizzie to the Magic Kingdom for the first time.  The grandparents on both sides, plus Aunt Erin, Uncle Scott, and Samantha joined us – 11 total.  It was a busy and fun day!

To commemorate the family trip to Disney, I ordered Minnie shirts for Lizzie, Charlotte, and Sam with their names on it, and Minnie ears for the rest of the ladies.  Found them all on Etsy for good prices!

After getting our tickets, we rode the monorail to the park.  Our first fastpass was the Winnie the Pooh ride, so we had to walk quickly across the park to make it.  The ride was adorable, but perhaps a little too intense for the little ones.  Next, we rode The Little Mermaid ride, and Lizzie was in heaven.  This is one of her favorite movies!  The surprise hit for Char and Sam was riding the carousel.  Both girls signed “more” after the ride was over…so cute!

Our last fastpass was meeting Rapunzel and Princess Tiana from The Princess and the Frog.  We had a bit of a wait, but finally met the princesses.  Lizzie was very excited, but shy – while Char and Sam were really indifferent to the whole experience.  Ha!

After lunch at Cosmic Ray’s Diner, it was parade time.  We found a spot and waited for the parade to start.  Like clockwork, both Char and Sam fell asleep and stayed that way, despite the loud music and cheers.  Their day at Disney had come to an end.

Disney is exhausting!

But Lizzie was far from tired!  She was entranced by the entire parade as many of her favorite characters passed by.

Tired cousins!

After the parade, the grandparents graciously took the little ones home and then Erin, Scott, JR and I continued to explore the park with Lizzie.  We made a beeline for Adventureland where we enjoyed some Dole Whip!  Back in Fantasyland, we checked out Mickey’s Philharmagic 3D show and Belle’s Enchanted Tales.  The Belle experience was one of the cutest things I’ve seen – it’s interactive and adorable.  Lizzie loved it!

Despite the frown, fun was had by all 🙂

I snagged a final fastpass for the Jungle Cruise ride, so we enjoyed that before our dinner reservation at the Skipper Canteen restaurant in Adventureland.

We finished the day with a quick ride on Alladin’s magic carpets and then hit the fireworks show, which was really spectacular.  All in all, a wonderful, action-packed day and a fitting way to celebrate our sweet, creative, and precocious Lizzie Leigh!
