I’ve been meaning to blog more about my pregnancy, but haven’t been the best about carving out the time to write. So here I am, 37 weeks pregnant and almost at the finish line, and I’m finally getting around to it. Well, we have had a few things going on….which could fill 10 other blog posts!
I remembered I posted a pregnancy questionnaire with Lizzie – and it was at exactly 37 weeks too. I’ve left my original answers from my first pregnancy in black and then added in my current answers in red. Check it out! 🙂
How far along are you? 9+ months (37 weeks) — Same!
How big is baby? According to my weekly pregnancy emails, baby is around 19 inches long and 6+ pounds (and let me tell ya, it definitely feels like it!) I’m having an ultrasound this Thursday to confirm her position and will have more details on size then. Can’t wait to see her! — The weekly pregnancy update says baby girl is the size of a winter melon. Yes, it definitely feel like there is a melon in my belly – a melon with a head, arms, and legs!
Total weight gain/loss: 30 pounds – yes, I’ve reached my weight gain milestone! — This time around I’ve gained 28 pounds.
Maternity clothes? Yes, please! In fact, my Sis took pity on me and presented me with a few more maternity tops for Christmas when she saw I was still trying to manage with some bigger workout shirts and my belly peeked out at the bottom. I tried as long as I could! — Of course, and you know it’s time for baby to come when your “big” maternity clothes are feeling small on you.
Sleep: Trying to soak up every minute of uninterrupted sleep…that is, between all the pee breaks and constant shifting to get comfortable. Still, I know this will be nothing compared to having a newborn in our bedroom every night. Oh yes, and still trying to fit in naps as often as possible. — Sleep, glorious sleep! Yeah, that’s not going so well these days as I’ve been battling a cough the last week that’s kept me up most nights. And, before that I had a toddler battling a cough at night that kept me up. We shall all be well-prepared for sleepless nights with this baby!
Best moment this week: Having my parents over to celebrate my Mom’s birthday (and we even snuck in some work on the nursery.) It was great to be together and have time to relax. My mom and I visited the spa and I received my second prenatal massage…heaven! — Any time spent playing and snuggling with Lizzie. Our days as a family of three are numbered, so JR and I are trying to savor time spent solely focused on Lizzie Leigh.
Movement: I think my baby echoes my shifting at night to get comfortable – except she does it all day long! The movements feel so different than they did even a month ago. I can tell she’s a lot bigger and it’s getting much more cramped in there for her. I feel her turning and stretching, and frequently hiccuping! — Lots of big movements and shifting around, just like Lizzie. This is one of those things I missed when I was no longer pregnant – feeling my baby move inside me. It’s such an incredible feeling, and I know I will miss it again when Charlotte is born.
Food cravings: Anything sweet! The first trimester I was all about the salty and spicy foods, and now I could kill for some ice cream and cake at night. Trying to be careful with my sugar though and just treat myself with a small indulgence each day. Besides, baby WANTS it too! 🙂 — Sweets again too! Plus it really gets baby girl moving in there.
Food Aversions: I’m feeling better about seafood these days, so there’s not much I won’t eat now. — This whole pregnancy I’ve been turned off by red meat. I can bear the smell of it now, but still not interested in eating a steak.
Labor Signs: Increasing Braxton Hicks contractions (especially at night), but they are painless. Nothing else, but I’ve started going to the OB every week so they can keep tabs on my progress. It won’t be long now! — Some Braxton Hicks contractions here and there and I’m 1 cm dilated as measured at my weekly OB appt. Considering Lizzie came right around 38 weeks, I’m mentally preparing for another early arrival. And, this time I won’t be in denial! 🙂
Pregnancy Symptoms: A little back and hip pain at night – but nothing a back rub from my hubby can’t fix! No indigestion or acid reflux, so I consider myself quite lucky. — I’ve definitely had more hip and lower back pain this pregnancy, especially the last few months. Again, I’ve been lucky with very little reflux or other major symptoms now that I’m past the first trimester.
Belly Button in or out? Completely flat now. — Same!
What I miss: Can’t wait to have some REAL sushi! — Wine!!!!!!!!!
What I am looking forward to: My ultrasound and OB visit on Thursday – so I can learn more about the size of my little girl. — Meeting this sweet baby! I’m so curious what she looks like and if she’ll look like Lizzie did as a newborn. I’m also so excited for Lizzie to meet her baby sister – I know that will be such a sweet moment.
Upcoming appointments/events: Thursday, and every week thereafter, until she makes her appearance! — Next Friday…if I make it till then without going into labor!
Weekly Wisdom: Nothing feels better right now than getting things organized and clean – for baby girl and for me! — Making lists helps me stay on top of the small baby projects still to be done. Also, finding time to relax so I can feel better before baby comes.
Milestones: Baby S is full term this week! — Same!
