Our last day in Lake Como was action-packed. We started the day with a boat rental. Kerry and Michael were our captains as we zoomed around the lake, checking out all the beauty including charming lakeside towns like Varenna, Menaggio, Lenno, and of course villas galore. Michael and the girls even enjoyed a quick, chilly dip in the lake.

On our walk back to Bellagio, we wandered through the gardens at Villa Melzi. Photos courtesy of Char – our budding photographer. 😀

Finally, my mom, Lizzie, and I took the car ferry to Varenna (the town I had originally tried to stay in but couldn’t find any rooms). We hiked the steep 30-min trail to see Castle Vezio, a true medieval castle, which towers above the town. The views from the castle did not disappoint. Lizzie and I even climbed to the top of the tower for amazing panoramas.

We took a different route down back to Varenna which afforded more breathtaking views.

Finally, we ended our day with a limoncello spritz, a light meal, and gelato in Varenna harbor before heading back on the ferry to Bellagio. A perfect ending to our time in Lake Como!
