Our annual summer trip kicked off last Saturday. Destination: Nova Scotia & Prince Edward Island (PEI). First stop: Halifax!

Unfortunately, we had some travel delays at the start of the trip. After a 6 hour departure delay from Orlando (most of which we spent at home luckily), we made our way to La Guardia airport and then spent the night at an airport hotel so we could catch the 9:30 am flight to Halifax. Funny enough, my sis also experienced travel delays so we all ended up on the Sunday morning flight together.

We landed around 12:30 pm (Atlantic time – this part of Canada is an hour ahead of us) and breezed through Customs. After a quick check in at the Courtyard Marriott, we made our way to the harbor for lunch at Dave’s Lobster Shack. Lobster roll #1 🦞✅

Later that night, we enjoyed dinner at the Old Triangle Irish Alehouse where Ker and I sampled several Canadian ciders and beers.

We ended the evening with a walk up past the Citadel to the Public Gardens. In the grassy areas around the Citadel we saw dozens of families flying kites and enjoying the temperate weather.

The Public Gardens were closed, but we still managed to find a local soft serve ice cream joint called Dairy Bar to sustain us for the walk back to our lodging. We passed St. Mary’s Cathedral (circa 1820) and the Old Burying Ground (circa 1740s), illuminated beautifully by the night sky.
