Day 2 of our Nova Scotian adventures landed us in Lunenberg and Peggy’s Cove.

Lunenberg, founded in 1753 by German, French & Swiss colonists, is a coastal village and an UNESCO World Heritage site on the South Shore of Nova Scotia. It’s famous for its distinctive architecture and brightly colored buildings and homes.

We enjoyed walking the harbor and checking out the lovely coastal views, with gorgeous weather (low 70s – my perfect temp) spurring us on. ☀️

Lunch at the Salt Shaker Deli and coffee afterwards from the No. 9 coffee shop did not disappoint. Lobster roll #2 (if you’re keeping count)! 🦞✅

Next up was Peggy’s Cove – THE iconic Nova Scotian lighthouse! We arrived around 4 pm with the perfect lighting for our photo shoot. The cute little fishing village surrounding the cove was an added bonus.

The lighthouse is perched on a large rocky outcropping, and the girls enjoyed climbing around the rocks.

I’d heard a lot about Peggy’s Cove while researching for this trip, and I wasn’t sure if it would be a tourist trap, overloaded with cruise daytrippers. It is not – somehow the little village has kept its charm and not fallen prey to commercialization. I’d definitely recommend a stop here!

We made it back to Halifax just in time for our dinner rez at The Bicycle Thief. This was one of the most highly recommended restaurants – I saw it in my guide book and in countless videos. It’s definitely on the pricier side, but well worth it. Delicious Italian inspired entrees with a Nova Scotian influence. Our fave dish – the mussels in a tomato broth-based sauce that was to die for… still dreaming of this!
