On our first morning in Digby, we enjoyed a light breakfast on our balcony – and what a view! The fishing town’s harbor is lovely at both high and low tide, which can vary by 25 feet.

Also, did you know Digby is the scallop capital of the world? We tried scallops several times while in town and they were very delish.

After breakfast, we drove about 25 minutes to the artist colony of Bear River. Located right on the Bear River, the village is known for its buildings on stilts to accommodate the changing tides.

In addition to browsing a few cute shops, we found Sissiboo Coffee Roasters – which was perfect for my sissy and me! We even bought matching mugs.

The last stop in Bear River was the local winery. This area is actually a micro-climate that produces dryer wines. We took a short winery tour and learned more about their gravity-fed winemaking process and the 13 varieties of grapes grown in their vineyard.

And of course we did a tasting – yum!

We finished off our adventure with a stop at Lazy Bear Brewery on the way back to Digby. It was pizza night there so we enjoyed an appetizer of delicious coal-fired pizza while we waited out a thunderstorm.

Back in Digby we had dinner at Sydnie Street Pub. Another amazing meal of scallops for me!
